His journey inspires kids to dream big and see the world through different perspectives.

Dr. Colleen Kelly, founder of the children's content company "Kids' Chemical Solutions" and a chemist, transforms the subject of chemistry into a playful experience that kids can enjoy. Through stories about the discovery and early uses of radium, Dr. Kelly sparks curiosity about chemistry in TaleTree kids. Bravery, Passion, Life, and Hope
Our special guest was Edward Vela, an award-winning filmmaker known for his documentaries that raise awareness of critical global issues. Vela builds his films around four core themes that every documentary filmmaker should hold dear—courage, passion, life, and hope. Notably, he shared the story of missing children in Brazil, spotlighting families struggling in poverty. His hope is to inspire more people to reach out and support those in need. It was an invaluable experience, learning how documentaries can convey impactful messages and inspire change.

Saving Lives Of Pets
Cristi Blackwolf, a seasoned veterinarian with a lifelong love for animals. Even as a child, she felt deep empathy for injured animals, and hearing her mother tell stories of her bravery around them, knew, and hearing her mother tell stories of her bravery made her realize she wanted to become a vet. Cristi began volunteering at a local animal clinic in elementary school, committing to both her studies and her passion. Despite the long journey to become a veterinarian, she never gave up, working with various animals and constantly learning. One highlight of her talk was an X-ray showing a dog’s stomach with a stone inside—it surprised the kids at first but turned to smiles as they learned the dog recovered after surgery. Cristi’s dedication to saving animals is truly inspiring, don’t you think?

The Impact Of Rainforests
The December 2023 special camp showcased Kelsey Paulling, a tropical rainforest expert from the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. With extensive experience in conservation projects and breeding endangered animals, Kelsey has a special focus on the critically endangered Panamanian golden frog. Collaborating with local communities in Panama, she supports the breeding efforts for these frogs. Her captivating collection of photos and stories ignited curiosity among the TaleTree children, delivering a heartfelt lesson on the vital importance of protecting even the smallest creatures.

For TaleTree’s Halloween event, Elli led a fun snack-making workshop, guiding kids in crafting quirky, spooky treats using fruits, chocolates, and candies. The children delighted in designing unique and playful Halloween desserts, letting their imaginations run wild.

Eugene Lee, a technology company founder, has a deep passion for music that complements his professional life. While studying Physics at Harvard, he played the piano in bars and restaurants, but he paused for a decade. Rediscovering his love for music during a challenging time, he now plays with the Silicon Valley Orchestra. During the camp, he captivated the children by sharing how music has enriched his appreciation for art, history, math, and more. His performance of Mozart’s “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” instantly won the kids’ hearts.

Our guest, Kevin James, is a researcher at NASA in the United States. Dead Whales Tell Tales
In May 2022, the guest was Moe Flannery, the senior collection manager of ornithology and mammalogy at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. When a dead whale washes up on the beach in Northern California, Moe is called to action. Along with dozens of volunteers, he conducts a detailed necropsy to gather important data about the whale and investigate the cause of death. Despite the challenging nature of this work, Moe and his team play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of marine life. Volunteering for local initiatives, even for just a few hours on the weekend, can make a significant impact in the community.
